Sandra “Sandi” Jo Schrank (née Arnold) died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Evergreen hospital on April 24, 2019 in Kirkland, WA. She was 75.
Sandi is survived by her husband, Philip Schrank, son Kenneth (Kelly) Pederson and daughters Kathy (Justin) Hale, Kristi (Paul) Morgan and Kimberly Holman, stepson Keith (Andrea) Schrank, stepdaughter Leigh Clough, brother Terry (Nancie) Arnold, and mother Sigrid Arnold. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers Garren Arnold and Kip Arnold, her sisters Sharmaine Jorgensen, Diane Todd, Glendine Tinder, and her father Glenn Arnold.
Sandi was born on Jul 8, 1943 in Tacoma, WA. and graduated from Arlington High School in 1962. Sandi was fun and outgoing, organized and ambitious, working as a payroll accountant and bookkeeper at numerous companies throughout her career. In the early 1990s, Sandi moved to the Tri-cities area, living in Benton City, Pasco and West Richland. She retired in 2007 as a records control specialist at the Hanford Nuclear Complex.
Sandi will be remembered for her love of family, support of those in military uniform, devotion to those in need, and her energy for many charitable causes. Sandi was creative and gifted, always making cards and gifts for those close to her. She loved to spend time with family and would always sacrifice her own comfort for others - especially her grandchildren.
Sandi was active with Phil in their retirement, enjoying NASCAR, camping, her grandkids’ sporting events, and charity work. Before Sandi’s health began to decline, she and Phil were active motorcyclists, taking long road trips and participating in many charity rides as members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA).
In 2017, Sandi was diagnosed with advanced metastatic breast cancer. It was a challenging diagnosis resulting in multiple surgeries, difficult treatment, long recoveries. Sandi showed incredible strength and courage, optimistically facing each new treatment, working hard to rehabilitate her strength after each setback, and making the most of every day.
The family deeply appreciates the compassion and superb care Sandi received through Dr. Jane Golden and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends consider making a donation to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance at https://secure.seattlecca.org/.
