Sandro Alejandro Carrasco (Alex, Gando, Tio, DJ Esnir1) passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2020, in Florida. He was born January 11, 1988, in Brooklyn, NY to Lydia Irizarry and Andres Carrasco.
In his short 32 years with us, he achieved many successes and inspired countless people along the way. His charismatic nature was not easily forgotten. Meeting Sandro was an experience -- he left a lasting impression with anyone he came in contact with. A kind, genuine, and loving man, Sandro’s motivation in life was not only to achieve greater heights for himself but to uplift his fellow peers and family and build a path for those following in his footsteps.
Sandro was an Architectural & Construction professional with over 10 years of experience contributing to several renowned institutes including the New York Aquarium, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, World Trade Center, and NYU Langone Medical Center. In addition to his passion for architecture, Sandro loved music and was an established DJ performing in clubs internationally.
Sandro graduated from The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School in 2007 where he began visualizing his future in architecture through the guidance and support of his peers and teachers. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 2012 and was working towards a Masters of Science and Engineering Management at Clarkson University. During his time at Pratt, he was able to deepen his love of travel, studying abroad in Rome, Italy through Pratt Institute’s Honors Program in 2011. During his studies, Sandro also held the position of Architectural Designer at Robert A.M. Stern Architects.
After graduation, Sandro continued to grow in his professional career where he held positions that range from Project Architect, Financial Analyst and Superintendent at Jones Lang LaSalle, Turner Construction Company, and Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis. During his time at Turner Construction, he played an integral part in the development of a scholarship-mentor program that provides scholarships to Pratt Institute students, paid summer internships and a guaranteed full-time position upon graduation. A natural leader, Sandro started his own company, Wolfgang Group where he was currently managing a project based in California.
Throughout his life, Sandro kept a positive mindset focused on problem-solving and continued personal and professional growth. He lived by one of his favorite quotes by writer Gore Vidal, “The unfed mind devours itself” and strived to move forward in growth in every aspect of his life.
Sandro was a devoted Christian who found inspiration in his favorite preacher, T.D. Jakes. He loved music, traveling and sports such as snowboarding and paintball -- but above all, he loved his friends and family, especially his nephews and nieces. Those who knew him knew that he was the epitome of the phrase “Avant-Garde”.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
