It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Sheryle Kampf Cashman Valles. Sherry will be deeply missed by her family and her close friends, some of which she has maintained a close relationship to since grade school.
Sherry was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 2, 1945 to Matthew and Jean Carlson Kampf (both deceased). When she was 7, the family moved to the Southwest side of Chicago to a brand-new subdivision called Scottsdale. Sherry, and her sisters, were so very lucky to have been raised on a street (82nd Place) where the neighbors were like family members. It was an amazing block and neighborhood. Sherry attended Adlai E. Stevenson Grade School, then Calumet High School for two years until William J. Bogan High School was built in 1961. Sherry graduated from Bogan in January of 1963.
Sherry’s career was largely spent as a valued employee in the Legal Department of McDonald’s Corporation in Oak Brook, Illinois as a Paralegal. Through them she earned a wonderful and unforgettable vacation to Hawaii as well as a much-needed sabbatical as she fought, and won, a battle with breast cancer. Sherry lived much of her adult life in her lovely little home in Crestwood, Illinois.
Sherry was happiest when she was out having lunch or shopping with a good friend, or watching The Andy Griffith Show, or listening to Elvis songs.
Sherry’s children are: daughter, Tammy Higgins and son, James Cashman, (deceased). For the most part, Sherry raised her two children as a single mom.
Sherry was a generous and doting grandmother who is mourned by her granddaughter, Ashley Higgins Sanner (husband, James Sanner), grandson, Nathan Cashman, and grandson, Phillip Forrest.
Sherry is also mourned by her sister, Yvonne Kolling (husband, Michael) and sister, Michele Kampf Pietruszka (husband Thomas Pietruszka) as well as her niece, Michele Thornton (wife, Gillian Griffin) and nephew, Matthew Thornton. Sherry was very devoted to her little dog, Chewy.
Sherry passed away during the night of January 25th after a long and heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
