Shirley Mae Birlew Taylor was welcomed into the presence of Jesus on October 19, 2021 at the age of 89 in Spokane, WA.

She was born an only child in La Grande, Oregon to Iva Stalcup-Birlew and George Franklin Birlew in 1932. She grew up in Longview, WA. Then settled in Spokane 60 years ago. Married George Taylor in 1953 and later divorced. 

She was a homemaker for 25 years and then worked as a medical transcriptionist for Heart Clinic Northwest and Holy Family until the age of 82. 

She survived cancer in 1992. She was a faithful member of Garland Avenue Alliance Church for many years. You weren’t with her very long before she shared her faith in Jesus and encouraged you to make the same choice. She was a faithful supporter of Joyce Johns, missionary to Cambodia. She is survived by her sons Edward, Frank and Paul and daughter Nancy Carter; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
