We created this page in memory of our dad, Steve Borchert, who passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2020, at just 66 years old.

Besides being the tech-loving, savvy business person we know him to be, he was also passionate about music and the arts. He played the guitar, sang, attended as many live concerts as possible, enjoyed theater, and loved watching movies.
His employer, The Open Group, generously offered to make a charitable donation in dad's memory. We've selected Rails-to-Trails (www.railstotrails.org) because he's been a member and regular donor since 2014.
He was an avid biker and loved to ride the best trails in every city possible. He forced us kids on mountain biking trips across sandy beaches, dirt, and pavement. Every time he traveled by car, he would always bring his bike so he could find trails to ride in the morning. Hundred degree Texas summer heat never stopped him. Even needing double knee replacement, his favorite place to be was on his bike out in nature.
Dad was a big kid at heart. He loved life, having new adventures, learning and reminiscing. He was smart, fun and cool. I have so many memories of our times in the 70's and early 80's.

Later in life when we connected I got to know him on a different level. I genuinely enjoyed him as a person and always looked forward to our conversations. He could literally talk about anything and always had some sort of gem of information or tip to share with me. As an adult I learned that we had many more similarities and interests in common than differences.
Although we didn't get to see each other very often, I know he was incredibly proud of all his children and grandchildren and loved catching up to hear what everyone was up to. I'm so sorry due to covid-19 we did not have a chance to have one more visit as he had planned.
They say that legacy is not something you leave FOR people.... it's something you leave IN people. Although Dad is not with us physically I truly believe the all the best parts of his spirit will continue to live on thru all of us that know and love him. ❤️ less
