Hal and Marjo attended our small group bible study at our home every week. (Photo shows some of us here - I am behind the camera on this one) Hal had a keen knowledge of God’s Word, loved Jesus, and had the kindest and most gentle spirit. Don’t misunderstand though…Hal also had the best quiet and DRY sense of humor. He would say something under his breath and make me belly laugh about it the rest of the night. He was awesome – and everyone reading this knows that.

Secretly, I called Hal my “Rent-a-Dad,” because not only did he just feel like family, but he was just genuinely always interested in how things were going. Every week he made it a point to take me aside and ask questions about things I had asked prayer for. He remembered small details and always offered help. Following his advice still helps me to this very day.

My husband and I thank Jesus for allowing us to know a man of God like Hal. We know he is with Jesus and experiencing the things we talked about each week in our living room – being in paradise with Jesus and witnessing the beauty of His Glory.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 1 THES 4:13-14
