On August 28, 1959, Barbara Elaine Ramsay, a beautiful gem, was loaned to us. She cared deeply, loved intensely, fought valiantly and gave sacrificially, until her sojourn ended on September 11, 2020. She will be cherished eternally.
Barbara, the daughter of Kenneth Brown and the late Joyce Emly, grew up under the guidance of her grandaunt, Constantine Smith (deceased), on Gem Crescent, Kingston 13, along with her 13 cousins. She attended Melrose All Age School, Fitz Henley Community College, and Malady's Fashion School.
She had many skills and interests and applied herself in various roles the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, as well as Liguanea Drug and Garden Centre, before unstable health inhibited her from working full time. Not to be defeated, she drew on her varied strengths, became a chicken farmer, sewed and created craft items, energized by her love and dedication to her three children.
Barbara was a nature lover and enjoyed having pets around. Without a doubt, she had a green thumb and plants which were privilege to be in her garden were always a beauty to behold.
Her life was a potent testimony of the transforming and healing power of the love of God. As she lived to honour Him, many have been touched by her testimony's, constant encouragement, her humility, kindness and her resilience.
Barbara had numerous ailments, including Ischaemic Heart Disease, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Osteoarthritis. Her transition occurred at home somewhat suddenly after a brief hospitalization.
She is sadly missed by her husband Phillip and children, Nickesha, Diana and Phillip, Son's-in-law Hugh and Seth. She also leaves behind, sisters, Audrey and, Janet and brother, Ronald; Cousins, Pet, Valrie, Keith, Locksley, Muncy, Olive, Marie, and Marlin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The melody of this beautiful soul will chime on unceasingly in our hearts.
