OBITUARY
Carol Ann Co was born on January 18, 1955 to Hipolito Co and Florence Yee in Manila, Philippines. Ann, as she was known to her family, attended Immaculate Conception Academy in Manila from kindergarten till high school where she played center in basketball and also played volleyball and was involved in the Glee Club.

Carol Ann Co was born on January 18, 1955 to Hipolito Co and Florence Yee in Manila, Philippines. Ann, as she was known to her family, attended Immaculate Conception Academy in Manila from kindergarten till high school where she played center in basketball and also played volleyball and was involved in the Glee Club.
She attended Maryknoll College in Quezon City before moving to the US in 1978 and then completed her degree in Sociology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She returned to teach at the International School in Makati, Metro Manila before moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1986.
Ann's real passions were teaching young children and music. She went back to school to earn her teaching degree and ESL (English as a second language) credentials, and taught pre-school and kindergarten for 10 years. Later, because of her love for music playing the piano, she decided to use her teaching talent and skills to become a piano teacher to young children. She earned her AA teaching degree in Music from Las Positas College in Livermore, CA and then taught music/piano for the next 22 years. Her students knew her as Ms. Carol.
Ann was a gentle soul who was unfailingly selfless, kind, patient, caring, compassionate, and intuitive. She was also an extremely dedicated and hardworking teacher, spending many hours preparing her classwork and classroom. She also spent much of her own money on school and music materials, and prize incentives for the children. She loved her students and they all bloomed under her tutelage.
Ann also enjoyed traveling with her sisters to China, Germany, and Italy. She relished food, TED talks, Podcasts, streaming news shows, and watching movies. She was a voracious learner. She also believed in homeopathic treatments. She was also always there for whenever our mother needed help in her failing years.
Ann was also a beloved aunt, sister, cousin, and friend and she will be forever missed. She never forgot a birthday and was always willing to help. Her loved ones and students were most important to her. We are devastated by losing Ann so suddenly. She was a beautiful and loving soul who we will forever be held dear in our hearts and minds. We miss her very deeply.

Ann was a kind and gentle soul. When God made her, He must have destroyed the mold as she is one of a kind, the best example of what humanity has to offer.

We were fortunate to be able to spend time with Ann last August after a gap of many years. How gentle, warm, and good she was! We remember how fondly she talked about her students and how her life dedicated to teaching was so fulfilling. She was a... moreWe were fortunate to be able to spend time with Ann last August after a gap of many years. How gentle, warm, and good she was! We remember how fondly she talked about her students and how her life dedicated to teaching was so fulfilling. She was a wonderful teacher with a real ability to connect with young children and make a difference in their lives.
She loved her family and was never heard to say anything bad about anyone. The cousins photo attached brings back happy memories growing up together in the Philippines. Laurence remembers escorting Ann to the Prom at her all girls' school. He was her tallest cousin after all.
Ann was one of the truly good people in the world and will be greatly missed.

The time together was magical as we immersed ourselves in the local culture, history, and food, but more importantly, the... moreOur fondest and most memorable time with Ann was just a year ago in Sicily along with her sisters and other family & friends. The time together was magical as we immersed ourselves in the local culture, history, and food, but more importantly, the bonding with one another. Ann, had a very sweet soul to her whole being. She was very unassuming and yet very engaging. She was quick with a warm smile which would brighten anyone's day. Always willing to listen and learn from you. Ann's quiet demeanor was always on display as she sought to make you first, her last.....clearly a character of a servant. A scripture verse ( Colossians 3:12) sums up the life God asks us to lead: Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.....Ann truly embodied all of these character traits each day. In her memory as a sister, aunt, teacher, or friend who will be dearly missed, know with confidence heaven has gained a kind and loving Angel of God and seek to lead the life Ann quietly led....a servant to others. it doesn't seem real to me that Ann is not among us any more. I last saw her exactly a year ago during our lovely time together at the occasion of Tina's 60th birthday trip to Sicily. We often walked together and exchanged thoughts, both of us being the quiet ones. I noticed that she was always aware of everyone's needs, silently tending to them, putting herself last, not demanding much. I am so glad that she got to enjoy this trip, these impressions and the fabulous food we all shared. She was the good soul of our company and I imagine of all companies she shared. She was loving without being showy. I thought she had so much to offer, but she hid it within her self-effacing personality. She was more interested in knowing about the lives of others rather than talking about herself.
Being the adopted sister to the four Co sisters, I will miss this big sister very much and am grateful to have had the chance to meet her.
