Carolyn Sue “Susan” Prater, 65, returned to her heavenly home on August 23, 2020 after a battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and gave her peace.
Susan was born to the late Jackie and Walker Brown in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 24, 1947. She had a career as a doctor’s assistant before starting her life as a mother. She would go on to become a teacher, and later in life had a long career with a local car dealership. She loved being active in her church, and in the 1980’s spearheaded a puppet ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She loved art, music, musicals, and film, and passed these passions on to her children.
Susan was the proud mother to and is survived by her daughter Amanda “Amy” Nicole Blackburn (46), her daughter Addie Lynn Cross (43), and her son Andrew “Andy” Christopher Prater (41). She loved animals, including her dear dog Buddy and cat Bella. Her light and life will be celebrated on August 28, 2020 at John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home and Chapel.
