BIOGRAPHY OF DR. (MRS) CLARA KIKELOMO ADEYEMI NEE ONITIRI
Clara Kikelomo Adeyemi, SARI, to her mum and siblings, was born on the 6th of March 1955, to the family of Pa. F.A and Mama Nma Onitiri in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. She stayed with her maternal grandmother in Port Harcourt East when her parents moved to Lagos as a result of the Nigeria civil war. She later re-united with her parents after the civil war in the year 1970.
EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
Her educational history is as follows:
- C.W.A Primary School. Port Harcourt - Primary Education.
- CMS Anglican Primary School, Marine Beach, Apapa Primary education finished – 1970.
- Holy child College, Obalende Lagos - Secondary Education (WASC) - 1975
- City and East London College - Diploma in Dispensing Optician (FADO) - 1981
- University of Ibadan – B.Ed Special Education - 1998
- University of Ibadan – M.Ed Special Education - 1999
- University of Ibadan – P.H.D Special Education – 2011
WORK HISTORY
Clara worked in several places apart from owning her own Fashion & Designing outfit and Interior and Exterior decoration business:
- Shannon and Carton Opticians London, England - Pre Reg optician (1980-1981)
- Vicky Opticals Lagos, Nigeria - Resident Optician (1981-1982)
- Ojulowo Eye Clinic Mokola, Ibadan - Assistant Manager (1983-1984)
- Clares Nig. Ltd Ibadan - Production Manager (1988-1998)
- Lead City University - Senior Lecturer - Sabbatical (2011-2012)
- Federal College of Education, Special, Oyo (2000-2019)
During her stints at FCE Oyo she had several publications and research works, attended several seminars both local and international and was a recipient of several awards. She started out in the position of Lecturer III and rose to the positions of a Chief Lecturer at the College. She also served as the Director, National Resource Centre for the Disabled and the publisher/managing editor of the International Journal of Issues on Disabilities. She served on numerous College committees till her passing. She was active as a member of the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education FCE (Sp), Oyo Chapter and the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa, (SWAAN), Oyo State Chapter.
Dr. (Mrs.) Clara Kikelomo was a Devoted Christian and served God within her local church at Scripture Pasture Christian Centre and later on at New Covenant Church, where her activities were very numerous. To mention a few; -

- Coordinator, Aesthetics Department
- Assistant Cell Leader- Bashorun House Network
- Member Special Projects & Building Committee
She engaged in sending out daily bible study devotionals early in the morning on WhatsApp right up till the day before her passing.
Clara Kikelomo, whom I sometimes called Kike ni Iyawo, met with her darling husband Agbaakin ‘Labi Adeyemi at a friend’s birthday lunch party sometime in 1977 and since that time there has not been any looking back until they became husband and wife on the 2nd October 1982. Dr. (Mrs.) Clara Kikelomo Adeyemi is blessed with 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
