‘People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if their light is from within.’ -- Elizabeth Kubler Ross
You can shed tears that Heather has gone,
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes, and hope she will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.
Your heart can be empty, because you can’t see her,
Or you can be full of the love and friendship you have shared with her
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember Heather and only that she has gone,
Or you can treasure her memory and let it live on.
You can dwell on your sadness and turn your back,
Or you can do what she would want.
Be happy enjoy your life, love and go on.
FAREWELL
Today we have celebrated Heather’s life. We know she surrounds us with her spirit.
We celebrate her life and although we grieve, we are so grateful for all the memories she leaves.
Heather you have shared so much of yourself with each of us and these are experiences we will treasure forever.
May you leave here knowing you remain with us each day in spirit and in our hearts.
(Leo Buscaglia wrote the book – Living – Loving and Learning and he writes)
‘I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. There love leaves an indelible imprint on our memories. Love is not written on paper, for paper can be erased; nor it is written in stone, for stone can be broken; but it is inscribed on a heart and there it shall remain forever’.
Despite the challenges, including her illness, there is no question that Heather lived a full life, a well lived life filled with love, which she shared and gave to the important people in her life - her family – all of you - are what mattered most to her.
