Helen Lucille Mason, born February 18, 1921 in Loomis, Nebraska, died peacefully on April 10, 2021 at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. She was 100 years old.
The second child of seven children to Luie and Effie Christopher, Helen’s family moved from Nebraska to California in 1930. While I’m California, Helen attended California State University, Fresno earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching.
On September 25, 1941, Helen married Frank LaVerne Mason in Culver City, California. They were married for 69 years. She and her husband LaVerne moved to Phoenix in 1951 and raised four children in Arizona.
Helen was an award-winning teacher, having earned the Silver Apple Award for her service teaching children in Phoenix Elementary Schools for 20 years.
She is survived by two of her children, Darlene LaVerne Park and husband Richard of Phoenix, Arizona, Joyce Cynthia Mason of Phoenix, and daughter-in-law Lorie Mason of Phoenix. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, LaVerne, her daughter Linda Lucille Phelan and her son Frank Christopher. She was a beloved grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 10 and great-great grandmother of two.
A long time congregant of the Church of Beatitudes in Phoenix, Helen was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial was held with immediate family in Helen's home.
