The entertainment community in NY and LA are mourning the loss of beloved talent manager, Jonathan Groce. Jonathan was born July 24, 1982 to his mother, Patricia Valentine and father, Robert Groce. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Patricia Valentine, siblings; Misty Groce, Cristy Bird, Matthew Valentine, and Katherine Randalls.
Jonathan had an exciting and successful career in both NYC earlier on, and LA later. He received three Daytime Emmys for his work on the hit TV show, Ca$h Cab. He went on to work on many other popular shows including Awkward, Ridiculousness, Teen Wolf, Children’s Hospital, and more. He was a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ community in NYC and LA and a voice in the entertainment industry for young actors to pave their way. Jonathan enjoyed helping talented people find and hone their skills to create stories that inspire, motivate, and entertain us all in authentic ways. Jonathan was well loved in these communities among actors, writers, comedians, and other story tellers. Friends, clients, and colleagues can join family in a virtual memorial service Sunday, January 17 at 6pm EST.
"Let us in, let us in...let us out, let us out", was Jonathan's favorite quote from one of his favorite movies, Clue. It perfectly captures who he was because he loved the drama, the back and forth of relationships, and give and take dynamics to life. He loved a good mystery, he loved a good puzzle. As a highly gifted and intelligent person he was always up for a political or entertainment-centered debate. Being well-read and highly up-to-date on entertainment and pop culture he found communities in the DNR show with Derek and Romaine, a radio show hosted in NYC. He was so passionate about entertainment and helping actors fulfill their goals in telling stories that it really touched every aspect of his life in some way. Jonathan was fun, fun-loving, passionate, and giving.
Jonathan was closest with his boyfriend, Derek Hartley, family, friends; Jeremiah Horn, Erin Brown Thomas, Kelly Vrooman, and boss and mentor, Susan Ferris.
Join us Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST for a virtual memorial with fireworks after. It will be recorded for anyone who misses it and added to this page.
