Joe had a huge heart, an unforgettable smile, and love for family, friends, dogs, community, and San Francisco. He was the first friend you called when you needed help or advice. He was the dad at every event. He was the co-worker who was nominated for every team. He was the dog guy with four dogs in tow. He was the softball coach who led with humor and inclusiveness.
Born in San Francisco, he was raised and lived most of his life in the Bay Area. His deep love for animals led to a career in animal welfare, first at Pets Unlimited and later at the San Francisco SPCA, where he was the Director of Information Services, Technology, and Facilities. More recently, he was consulting with senior dog rescue Muttville.
Joe will be missed and mourned by a large number of friends and family. He is survived by his daughters Petra and Sydney; his brother Jack Boothby and his wife Sheilah; his brother Paul and his wife Trisha. He is predeceased by his parents, Iku and Robert Boothby.
Memorial donations may be made to Muttville.
