Feb 27, 1953 - Sept 15, 2020
Leslie C. Lindsay, 67, of Goodview, VA died Tuesday, Sept 15, at the Palliative Care Center of The Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following complications of a brain aneurysm and cerebral stroke.
As the daughter of a career military family, Leslie matriculated at various posts and bases throughout the US and Europe. She graduated from McLean High School in 1970. She then earned a B.S. from The Univ. of Maryland, and later earned her BSN, RN degrees from George Mason Univ. School of Nursing.
Leslie then went to serve her country at the Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Asheville, NC; primarily in the Cardiac ICU Unit. She then applied her skills collaborating to develop and install hospital IT platforms at numerous facilities throughout the US. It was this job that led her to meet her husband, Mark.
Leslie was a proud mother, grandmother and wife with a very diverse group of friends that stretched across many different years, circles and locations. Her life was an example of caring, giving, mentoring and advocacy. Her passions, knowledge, and pursuits knew very few boundaries. From geopolitics, language, medicine, pharma, flora and fauna, music, cuisine, travel, Dachshunds, quilting and knitting to cowboy boots and hand carved decoys.
As a brain aneurysm survivor since 1996, and more recently in the last several years, she has worked tirelessly to assist other survivors, and lobby Congress on behalf of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
Leslie is survived by her husband, Mark E. Lindsay of Goodview; son Geoffrey M. Richardson and wife, Noel (Sims)Richardson of Charleston, SC; brother Gregg A. Cason and wife, Gina (Ballard) Cason of Dothan, AL; grandsons, Cason and Kyler Richardson of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her father Col. Duane S.
