She moved to Taiwan when she was a young child with her parents and grew up there before moving after marriage to the United States. She eventually settled in Virginia, and had two children. In 1990 she remarried and lived briefly in Germany where she learned how to speak German, taught aerobics classes, and was able to visit a number of European countries with her husband Gerald. They moved back to the peninsula in 1993 and Nancy rejoined C & F Enterprises. In her spare time, she loved to line dance, cook, teach Sunday School for children, and sing at her church. She was also an active member of the local Chinese American community.
In 1998 she had a car accident which left her mostly paralyzed. After undergoing months of intensive care and rehab, she bravely faced this new chapter of her life and sought to make the most of the situation, despite being in constant pain from her injuries. In the early years after her accident she would travel with Gerald on some of his work trips and she designed and oversaw the construction of their home at Weston Road. An entertainer at heart, she often used humor to handle difficult situations (she often remarked that she would have loved to be a standup comedian). She was supportive of those around her and actively kept in touch with her social network. In her later years, she also loved to think up creative children's stories in Chinese to tell to her two grandchildren Elena (6 years old) and Kayla (3.5 years old). During this time, she also composed more than 30 worship songs (lyrics and music, including Chinese and English versions of each song) with a few as children's worship praise songs. One song later got incorporated into a production CD to be released later in 2019 by New Heart Music Ministries in Texas (https://www.newheartmusic.org/ministrythruworship).
You Fill My Heart (Nancy's composed song to be sung by those present during the Memorial Service): You Fill my Heart
Nancy is preceded by her mother Wei-Ted Yu and survived by her husband Gerald Steinwasser, daughter Ami Tseng and her husband Paul Chan, daughter Anna Tseng and her husband Ray Yeo, granddaughters Elena Yeo and Kayla Yeo, father Su-Sing Shih, and siblings Mei-Qi Shih, Mei-Shan Shih and Mei-Zhong Shih.
We deeply mourn her loss but also celebrate her life - the amazing life she lived on Earth as well as the new life she is now enjoying eternally in her heavenly home.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a small donation instead to the Rutgers W.M. Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience which is dedicated to bringing effective treatments to those with spinal cord injury.

I have known Nancy since 1991, and knew her to an energetic, vibrant person. Even after the car accident, she still opened her house and heart to young students and Chinese friends in order to spread the gospel. I have such deep respect for her. I want to thank Gerald as well for his love and support of Nancy.
On a personal note, Nancy has met my husband, and after meeting her my husband has prayed for her every day, and on holidays. She loves other people so much, and her love is so big, you can never forget it. She really is a good daughter of god. I think this verse completely sums her up:
2 Timothy 4:7-8:
“I have fought this good fight. I have finished this race. I have kept the faith. Now, there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”
We will see you in heaven. less
I remember your mother from our childhood as a passionate and strong-willed woman. I hadn't seen her in a long time, but the last time I visited, I was amazed at the positivity and spiritual strength she exuded. I'm so sorry for your loss.
