Michael Kirk Suvak, Jr, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
Michael was a cherished, loving, and devoted father, husband, son, sibling and uncle to Suvaks and Marinaccios, coworker, and creation. Michael was loved by everyone who encountered him. He was always kind, always sincere and always earnest. He was the kind of man that would give anything and everything he had to help someone else.
Michael was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 8, 1974. He is the son of Kirk and Elaine Suvak, strong and beloved parents. Michael grew up with a large extended family. He loved his family and shared stories about siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all the time. He attended Penn State, where he met his wife, and moved to Boston in 1998 to pursue a future in psychology. Michael and Jaime were married in 2001. He was the kind of husband that always tried to do the right thing. He was the kind of husband that loved his wife so deeply for all that she was and all that she wanted to be. Michael and Jaime made their life in Boston, Medford and Cohasset MA, raising two beautiful daughters, Austen and Amelia. Michael was an amazing dad. From the moment he met and loved his girls, he gave them everything he had. He had the patience when it was needed, the willingness to do whatever they wanted and the desire to make them the happiest he could.
Michael had many professional accomplishments. A brilliant and humble man, Michael had a doctorate degree and was a tenured professor at Suffolk University. But most importantly, he loved his job, his colleagues and all of his students. He would spend any amount of time needed to guide, mentor and help his students. Michael was an advocate for kindness, understanding and social justice. To honor him is to keep these values, show compassion for others and always try to help.
There will be a small family service on June 13th and we are hoping to bring everyone together for a Celebration of Life at a later time. However, there are many ways to celebrate Michael including sharing personal stories that will be made into a book for Austen and Amelia: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lwTmT-smnQUBv11kezX42YJfFX6gAPZT8qVMxTGWKj4/edit
Instead of flowers, there is a college fund set up for the girls through the Suffolk tribute site. Michael would want them to be able to pursue lifelong learning in any way they choose.
