Norma Jean (Carter) McKellip was born to Frank and Beulah Carter on December 31, 1934 in Hutchinson, MN.
Although Frank and Beulah had no other biological children they fostered Mary Jean Long, who became mom's sister in every possible way.
She grew up riding and showing horses and working on the farm. Norma attended and graduated from Maplewood Academy and attended Union College for one year.
After her year of college she married Bruce McKellip, her high school sweetheart. Bruce worked for Frank Carter on his farm and Bruce and Norma lived on the farm.
Norma and Bruce adopted two children, Scott and Jodi.
Her professional life covered a variety of areas, although the majority was spent in bookkeeping and accounting. She worked for Harris Pine Mills from 1974 - 1987 and for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists TRIPS department from 1987 - 2010 (years approximate).
Norma loved to travel and was able to travel to several countries, including Thailand, Germany, England, and the Dominican Republic.
Her dedication to church ministry and Christian service was exhibited in more ways than can be listed. She served in many positions at the Hutchinson, MN SDA church and New Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fulton, MD. She was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed assistance and to fill any roll or job, no matter how menial or challenging.
