Richard Leigh Newsome, age 78, of El Dorado Hills and Lake Tahoe, CA, died peacefully on August 29, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. The son of James DuPre Newsome, Sr. and Hildred Merle Coney Newsome, he grew up with his parents and older brother, James DuPre Newsome, Jr. in Jackson, Mississippi, all now deceased. He pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics at Millsaps College and later a stint in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator. He began working for an industrial glass company in his hometown, specializing in optical glass. He was relocated to Switzerland and became General Manager of the Swiss operation. There he met the love of his life, Angela. Three months later they were married in the Anglican Church in Zurich, Switzerland. After a couple of years they were transferred to London where their son, Leigh, was born. In 1973 the couple moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where they later had their daughter, Lisa. Richard continued with his passion and hobby for airplanes becoming a private pilot and spending time flying around the Bay Area. As a career Richard pursued high-tech and worked as an Executive for several Silicon Valley companies. He was a Senior Director for a large Japanese owned company, he served as the CEO for a 3-D computer graphics company and was an Executive Vice President of a large computer storage company. The couple moved to El Dorado Hills in 1998 where Richard continued his high-tech career consulting for several companies. After a few years, in 2003 Richard and Angela joined the local office of Coldwell Banker where they worked together as a team for 17 years. During this time, Richard became a real estate broker. He is dearly loved and survived by his wife, Angela Newsome, originally of Huddersfield, England; by two children, five grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
