I was touched when I saw few pics of his trip to Egypt I had the honor to organize while working with Solidarity Center. Our friendship started since this trip. He enriched all the discussions we had during this trip that we started in Cairo up to Aswan. When I moved to NYC and I had to face some troubles I was in touch with him telling him how life treating me, and in response he organized a quick same-day trip to NYC to come see me with our dear friend Liz McElory. Just seeing him out there supporting me was a huge deal. He tried so hard to put me in touch with the right people on the labor movement so I can do the things I love to do. Every time I was in DC he was keen to meet and catch up. I just can’t believe he is no longer. I know for fact he is in better place and he left us with his smily face and great ideas that we are going to learn from for the rest of our lives. Thank you all for this amazing event. less

We'd been colleagues and known each other a bit before this trip but this is the one that cemented our friendship. I learned a lot from him on that trip - and later - about being a patient listener and letting workers' tell their story. We did a lot of work on that trip but also had a lot of fun - including one of my all time favorite travel memories of watching Egypt play in a World Cup qualifier on screens in an outdoor park with what seemed like the entire population of Aswan. Egypt won and Scott leaned out the car window the whole way back to the hotel cheering with all the others. It was a good day. less
