“To connect with your mortality is also an opportunity to connect with your humanity. We need each other. Sending my best to everyone out there. Come together.” - Steve Wood
Stephen Douglas Wood was taken from us too soon on October 22, 2020 shortly before his 54th birthday. Steve was a loving, outgoing, fun, adventurous soul with a passion for entertaining others, lifting spirits, pushing boundaries, and living life on his own terms. After visiting California at 12 years old, Steve decided that he would live there as soon as he got the chance. Upon graduating from SMU in 1989, Steve moved from Dallas, Texas to Los Angeles. He continued pursuing his passion for the arts, travelling the world, moving to New York City for a brief period of time. After his time in New York, Steve followed his heart back to California, where he found his calling in helping others build strength, confidence, health, and living their best lives.
Steve is survived by his mother, Billie, father, David, sister, Priscilla, brother-in-law, Steve, nephew, Lance, and niece, Stevie. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Those who knew Steve, know his legacy of love and passion for lifting up others. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for contributions to be made in his honor to Lift Brigade, a charity near and dear to Steve’s heart, founded by his nephew while battling cancer himself. Lift Brigade® helps children, and their families, dealing with cancer and other life-threatening diagnoses better cope with their treatment. Donations can be made securely online at https://www.liftbrigade.org/donation-page/.
Steve’s social media has also been memorialized. All are welcome to post memories and final words to @pilateswithwood as well as here.
