GOODBYE DAD It's never the right time To say goodbye. I will miss you, Dad, And here is why. You taught me so much: To show no fear, To always have fun, And face the day with cheer.
You were always so able, So fast and so strong. In your little girl's eyes You could do no wrong. You would always listen, And you never pried. You were the arms around me When I cried.
You never looked for praises, And you were never one to boast. You were always there For those you loved the most.
You worked so hard, And those strong working hands Led me through life And helped me understand That life can be hard, And tough, and sad, But through it all I had my Dad.
And because of you, I understood That life was actually Pretty good. I believe in you And will follow your path, And when things go wrong, I'll look back and laugh.
I hope you can hear me So I can let you know That you were and will forever Be my superhero. So yes, today I am full of sorrow, But I will smile a little more With each tomorrow.
So please, Dad, go Be at rest And know to me You were always the best.

I thank God for this unique privilege of writing a tribute with respect to my late Daddy in Ile- Amule, our dear Engineer Reverend S.O. Foye, a man of peace and an epitome of love and kindness, a doting husband to his late wife and a caring father to his children, both biological and non- biological.
I first met Daddy Foye in 1977 in Jebba when my then fiancée, Dr. Bisi Adedayo was taking me round to meet his family members in Kwara and Lagos States. He and his wife welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home during my first and subsequent visits. He was so fond of my husband, whom he called Debisi, that he undertook the search for land and documentation of structural designs of our first built hospital project at Jebba and wanted us to remain close to him.
Anytime I visited him in OmuAran during my brief stay at the Landmark University, he welcomed me with smiles and never forgot to request information from me by asking “Debisi nko". I also admired his love for God and service in the household of faith till the end of his life.
Adeu our dear Daddy till we meet on the resurrection morning.

From Dr. Samson Adebisi Adedayo
I have known my uncle and big brother right from my primary school days when we used to live together in different apartments in Ile-Amule Compound, Omu-Aran, KWARA State. I recall that he was caring, loving and hardly enforced disciplinary measures on we younger ones in the compound but rather, he was fond of admonishing and mentoring us on issues of life. I was so endeared to him that I sometimes spent my holidays with him at Zaria when he was a bachelor working with NIGERIA Railway Corporation( NRC) in those good old days. On his return from England to Jebba with his wife and young children, I derived pleasure in visiting them frequently and enjoying the hospitality of his dear wife, late Mama Kemi at Jebba Paper Mills Staff Quarters. I was so proud of him as a family member that he was one of the first family members I introduced my wife, Ranti to during our courtship
Brother Latunji was very accommodating ,kind and good to family members. He was noted for being interested in promoting love and unity in Ile Amule and the family in general. He gave me a lot of moral and financial support during my wedding in Lagos in 1976 and his house was a comfortable haven as transit place for my young family anytime we travelled to the northern part of the country where we lived then. He also trained and accommodated many family members ,with the support of his late wife. And was noted for being a problem solver in the family. We
rejoiced when the he and his family surrendered to Jesus and were surprised when he went to train as a Minister of God at an advanced age. and served meritoriously in the Lord’s vineyard till old age. Adieu daddy Foye, We shall miss his ever cheerful and smiling disposition less

In Daddy and Mummy Foye I found a father and mother when marriage took me to Jebba. Our children found grandparents and aunties and uncles.
We still have pictures of Jemima on daddy lap, some with head swimming in daddy's cap and her legs dragging mummy's shoes.
Daddy devotion to God is palpable. The family altar is a must for all. I witnessed this the few times I stayed with the family.
Daddy involvement in the Christian community was exemplary .
Daddy was disciplined when it comes to his diets. He practiced healthy lifestyle. No wonder, with his trust in God, he lived long and healthy.
Daddy was generous to the core. The Foye's house is a place many were welcomed with warmth. I remember the feasting every December. Wow! There's always lots to eat and drink for the plenty people that turned up.
Sammy Motel was almost always given out for free for visiting missionaries and Christian programmes
Daddy released his pick-up vehicle with Sunday Olatunde (Jemima's small daddy) on the wheel to carry the Ojapas with all our belongings to Lagos when we relocated. What a great sacrifice.
Daddy called me intermittently after my husband demise to ask after my wellbeing.
He will always say " Mo ni kii bere alafia e ni". A lovely father indeed!

At home I called but Aunty Yemi told me that you were eating and I asked her to allow you to eat: only for brother Sunday to call me and said " Rev Oluchi, Daddy has passed on."
I miss you, you are the first person that I see in the journey of life who prepare to attend Sunday Service on Saturday. By Saturday you have envelope your Tithe and Offerings waiting for Sunday to come. I also learnt from you that when we give to God we are only doing ourselves good and not God. I learnt alot from you Baba.
I will always miss you but your words of encouragement, advise and prayers are always with me.

He joined the ordained ministry in order to reach to many people in the Anglican denomination. Ven Foye was a giver who gave to the work of God and people in general sacrificially.
When I became a Bishop in 2007, I met Ven Foye at Omu-Aran as a retired Anglican Priest I approached him to join me to build the Diocese of Omu-Aran t which he joyfully accepted. He was posted to many churches where he performed excellently well.
He sed his strength and resources to build the churches. He was humble and respected constituted authority irrespective of our age difference. He honoured Jesus in us and obeyed all instruction given to him to the letter.
Ven Foye was a man of God, a real child of God, a pace setter, a rugged Evangelist and a motivator. He was a peace living Christian.
Vem Foye and his wife were good example to the church and the community. We appreciate Christ in him.

Your ultimate goal in life was to meet with Christ; Then who are we to query God as it pleases Him to call you home?
You deserved to be mourned but your credentials speak volumes of a saint who should be celebrated even in death. We all pause today to give glory and honor to the Most High God for a life indeed well spent.
Though the music has stopped abruptly, the melody lingers in our memories of you. The impact of your existence, in the lives of those who knew you, will remain evergreen till the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more. You've fought the good fight of faith, you've finished the course, you've kept the faith, and the crown of righteousness is awaiting you in heaven.
We are well assured you are resting in the bossom of our Lord Jesus, where we will meet to part no more.

Precious in the sight of God is the death of his saint. Psalm 116:15
The news of the death of Ven (Engr) Samuel Olatunji Foye came to me a a huge shock. Ven (Engr) Foye has been a very close Christian brother to e. we met at Nigerian Paper Mill Ltd in March 1977 when I joined the mill from Port Harcourt but I also met him at the same week in St Peters Ang) Church Jebba where he was a lay reader and a strong pillar in the church. Our association became closer when I joined him in young Men Christian Association (YMCA) and later, both f us became foundation members of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Jebba Chapter.
Ven (Engr) S.O. Foye has a great passion for the work of God; he single handedly bult the St Paul’s Anglican Church, Egberiomo Jebba which is today the head quarters of Jebba Archdeaconry. He also donated his Sammy Motel for the use of Full Gospel Men’s Fellowship International for both their weekly bible studies and monthly outreaches. The diocese of Jebba is most grateful to this great man of God for his numerous financial assistances to the Diocese.
Ven (Engr) Foye due to his passion for the work of God enrolled into Emmanuel College of Theology Ibadan for his pastoral training and was after ordained a a priest of Anglican communion, he rose to the position of Venerable before his retirement.
Venerable Foye’s contributions in the Anglican church Jebba cannot be forgotten in a hurry, he was a very strong pillar of the church together with his late wife and children. He was a child of God and a role model to most od us. He was instrument to my joining S Peters church Jebba in 1977 and my priesthood ordination.
My happiness is that Ven S.O Foye died as a child of God and I hope that w shall meet at the feet of Jesus at the resurrection day.
Adieu my brother Ven (Engr) Samuel Foye, may your gentle soil continue to rest in peace.

We have had the honour and privilege of knowing the Venerable Foye since 1988 when we relocated to Jebba to establish Covenant Hospital. The Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International played a critical part in drawing us together in mission. We are saddened to hear of his passing.
Chief Foye, as he was addressed then, was a very dependable and consistent follower of Christ. He impacted the lives of many. He served the Lord wholeheartedly and sacrificially. He was a very generous man who opened the doors of Sammy Motel for the chapter meetings of Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship, Jebba.
Christ was at the centre of his life. And his goal was to love and to serve Jesus. He was determined to know Christ more deeply and to make Him known to the world. Venerable Foye’s life very much reflected the humility of Christ.
He was a good example to all of us as we observed how close he was to his family and the godly influence he had on them. His children have all turned out to be God fearing and are serving God in their different locations.
His passion for preaching the gospel was evident. Unsurprisingly, years later he answered the call to ordained ministry in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) where he exercised ministry till he was called home.
We bid farewell to a faithful father, knowing that in that day of great reunion we will once again stand with him in God’s presence.

Baba was an Anglican to the core. He was kind, devoted and committed.
Baba was friendly and a giver and he was never tired of doing what are needed to be done for the work of God to progress.
He was an epitome of humility and meekness as well as shining example for all to follow. Baba's Christian life impacted my life so much in the area of giving, for Baba Foye, nothing is too big to do or give for the work of God.
Baba was also caring, responsible and respectful . He worked assiduously to advance the work of God as minister, he spend and he was spent for God.
Baba Foye came, he saw and he conquered. He lived his life to the fullest to the glory of God.
Baba was supportive and was an encourager to fulfill the purpose of God for ministry and evangelism.

He was the first adult i grew up to know as a born again Christian, I have seen and met youth and teenagers claiming to be born again, but he was of a difference. He loved and served God and was a committed member of Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship before he became a reverend in the Anglican Church.
He was committed to the things of God and this earned him lots of Christian tittles in the Church. When I had the opportunity to live with him as a teenager, he taught me the secret of serving God and how to save money for the future, this principle is still helping me till date. He taught me also how to survive in all conditions I find myself in life using his personal life experience as an example. He told me how he was able to survive with token allowance while he was a student at the railway trade Centre and still able to purchase a bicycle. {equivalent to Mercedes today}
He accommodated many people in his house and gave them future most especially indigenes of Omu-Aran, he assisted a lot in securing employment in the Nigeria paper mill, Jebba.
He was a prayer champion.
May your soul continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord. Till we meet to part no more.

When he then became a clergyman, he brought me back to hold revival services in his parish. He made the earliest impact on my ministry. This impact became foundation stones upon which my work today stands. If those foundation stones were not laid, I will not be where I am today. We owe so much to him.
His kind has gone extinct. Saints for the kingdom and nothing more. Saints whose Christianity has no cash or material content, Jesus only.
The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Dioceses of Jebba and Omu Aran will miss him. The Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International will miss him. I do miss him. His brand is irreplaceable. We shall meet again.

The first time I met him was in 1980 as a co-worker (very senior colleague) and big brother in the Nigerian Paper Mills Jebba (NPM). He, as a qualified engineer was one, if not the only chartered Nigerian engineer in the employment of the company. His education, training and work experience stood him out in the company as a competent engineer, trainer and manager.
I also knew him as a community man per excellence with his activities at the Senior Staff Recreation Club and home-town levels, both in Omu Aran and in Jebba. On retirement from from civil service job, he transformed to a successful businessman especially in the hospitality business. Because baba Foye was diligent in government work, God prospered him greatly when he ventured fully into his own business.
The greatest transformation I witnessed in the life of baba Ven. Samuel Olatunji Foye started shortly before his disengagement from the service of NPM when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as Lord and Saviour. The transformation was total, honest and true. He surrendered ALL to Jesus. His hotel hall was surrendered for the use of many christian programmes. Servants of God were accommodated and cared for. Not considering his advanced age, he humbled himself and went to a Bible School/Seminary to become a priest. This was a great lesson. Since then this special servant of the Most High never looked back again. He served the Lord to the end.
For my family, baba Foye was an encourager and ever ready to help. He showed us love and kindness. From April 1980 to 2006 when I left Jebba, I learnt a lot in the transformation stages of the life of baba Foye. I am happy he ended well and gloriously and I pray this will be the lot of all his children too in the name of Jesus.

As a father, he greatly loved without discrimination. Between his biological children and we who are not, he didn't know how to create a difference.
He modelled Christlikeness with the wife of his youth, Mrs. Abigail Omobola Foye. They were one in focus, functioning and serving Christ till death did them part. I'm glad that he gave me opportunity to learn such values as integrity, goal setting, hard work, prudence, discipline, respect for others and many more from him. He showed me project planning and implementation. I'm grateful that God allowed me to have a close contact with him from early in my life.
He was gifted in giving: so his person, time and resources were available for others. Physically parting from him on a visit was difficult. You would want to keep staying together with him because he loved and was beloved. It's hard to put up with the reality of his call to glory. May God grant all in the family grace to carry on in the way of life as Revd. S. O. Foye's goal and prayer.
As a newly wedded couple, my wife and I cannot forget how late Revd. & Mrs. Foye with all their biological children took us in and ensured we started on a strong footing. We will not forget this act of love and care quickly.

Ven. Samuel O. Foye has contributed immensely to the Diocese of Jebba in many ways. His family had single handedly built a church (St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Egberimo) which is now a seat of Archdeaconry. He donated his personal house and business to the Diocese of Jebba after his retirement.
He was one of those contributed to the creation of Jebba Diocese. He served the church selflessly and contributed to the church sacrificially. Adieu your work is speaking after you have let this sinful world, rest on Ven. S.O. Foye. St Paul’s Anglican Church will never forget you. Diocese of Jebba will not forget your labour of faith. The call to glory of our Baba, Engr. Ven. Samuel O. Foye, Olori Ebi of Ile-Alaa, Imode compound, Omu-Aran has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
It is hard to believe that the Angels have taken you home at a time we least expected.
Baba Foye, as we always referred to you, you were a beautiful flower plucked from the flower bed to be a sweet. Smelling savour in the presence of your maker.
But it is hard to come into terms with the fact that we will never hear from you again. Sweet memories fill us anytime we remember the prayers you found pleasure in praying with us and will forever be cherished. We usually found consolation in you whenever we got down hearted or need direction on matters affecting our family.
Your benevolent simplicity lifted our hearts anytime you called to say hello. That is gone now! Never to come back. How sad we fill now. You had a healing voice, which was ever heard in your prayers.
The glow in your eyes always sent encouragement to far and wide. Everyone admired your wisdom in solving complex issues any time we sought your input. You were a role model, and now we can profoundly say that you left footprints on the sands of time.
Baba Foye, you were calm even when a situation seemed unbearable. Admittedly, we have lost a precious jewel, if death was stoppable, we would have kept it from coming your way. In every situation we cannot query or challenge God for your departure. However, the fact remains that the whole family recognized and felt your love towards us all.
As the Olori Ebi of Ile Alaa in Imode Compound Omu-Aran, you provided a purposeful leadership. Your house and your generosity provided a conducive environment for our meetings towards successful deliberations whenever we need to meet as a family.
Your spiritual disposition as a man of God has helped us, have a revelation on many issues of life and death.
You came, you saw and you conquered. It is noteworthy to state that your life was equivocally well spent and you left an indelible mark on the sand of time which cannot be forgotten too soon.
Farewell Baba Foye. You fought a good fight of faith and won the race. You left a legacy that will be read in many generations to come. You left a mark in our hearts, and nothing will ever erase it. It is indelible in our hearts.
May God grant you eternal rest. Sleep on Baba Foye till we meet to part no more.
